About the position

The Mechanical Engineer for High Voltage Battery will be responsible for coordinating the development and release of mechanical components for the local electric vehicle (EV) project. This role involves collaboration with local partners and counterparts in Germany to ensure project delivery and adherence to milestones, focusing on the localization of high voltage battery parts for the North American market.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the localization of mechanical parts for the high voltage battery system in collaboration with local partners and German counterparts.
  • Ensure technical understanding of current products planned for the North American region and identify gaps in market requirements.
  • Manage localized parts from a technical perspective, ensuring engineering samples and mass production meet project requirements.
  • Work closely with purchasing and battery production teams to ensure parts localization and industrialization align with overall EV and battery system timelines and quality goals.
  • Manage local parts suppliers to ensure technical requirements are understood and met, conducting necessary evaluations and tests.
  • Support high voltage battery pack integration into vehicles and assist with aftersales diagnostics and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Initiate and support regional engineering changes for the HV battery to improve quality or reduce costs, managing the implementation process for the North American region.
  • Provide development support for local production, including manufacturing, quality, logistics, and purchasing for electric vehicles and the HV battery system.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with electric vehicle system development or vehicle systems mechanical design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in vehicle system development and integration.
  • Experience with automotive mechanical parts development, testing, and release.
  • Experience in technical management of vehicle components suppliers.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in vehicle systems integration.
  • Experience in vehicle-level component or sub-systems testing/releasing.
  • Experience with local supplier base development.
  • Knowledge of electrical vehicles and high voltage systems.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills, both written and verbal.
