About the position

The Mechanical Engineer for High Voltage Battery will be responsible for coordinating the development and release of mechanical components within the high voltage battery system for electric vehicles. This role involves collaboration with local partners and counterparts in Germany to ensure project milestones are met and that products are tailored to meet market requirements in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the localization of mechanical parts for the high voltage battery system in the North American region.
  • Ensure a deep technical understanding of current products planned for the North American market.
  • Identify gaps in product requirements and ensure they are addressed in the development process.
  • Manage localized parts from a technical perspective, ensuring alignment with the design team in Germany.
  • Work closely with purchasing and production teams to meet localization and industrialization timelines.
  • Manage local parts suppliers to ensure technical requirements are understood and met, conducting evaluations and tests as necessary.
  • Support the integration of the high voltage battery pack into vehicles and assist with aftersales diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Initiate and support regional engineering changes for the high voltage battery to improve quality or reduce costs.
  • Provide development support for local production processes related to electric vehicles and the high voltage battery system.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in electric vehicle system development or vehicle systems mechanical design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in vehicle system development and integration.
  • Experience with automotive mechanical parts development, testing, and release.
  • Experience in technical management of vehicle component suppliers.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in vehicle systems integration.
  • Experience with vehicle-level component or sub-systems testing/releasing.
  • Experience in developing a local supplier base.
  • Knowledge of electrical vehicles and high voltage systems.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills, both written and verbal.
