DLZ Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC and Plumbing to join our team in Green Cove Springs, Florida. In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) systems as well as plumbing systems. The position requires performing load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling to ensure efficient and effective system designs. The engineer will coordinate with other disciplines and work collaboratively within a team environment to deliver projects on time and within budget. This includes reviewing the installation of designed equipment and systems to ensure compliance with construction documents and safety standards. The Mechanical Engineer will manage multiple projects simultaneously, preparing construction cost estimates and assisting in the development of contract specifications. The role also involves researching new procedures and products to enhance project outcomes. Safety is a priority, and all work must be performed in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan. Responsibilities

  • Design heating-ventilation-cooling systems and plumbing systems.
  • Perform load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and work in a team environment.
  • Review installation of designed equipment/systems for compliance with construction documents.
  • Perform duties with multiple projects within the established schedules.
  • Work on a wide variety of project types, scales, and complexity.
  • Manage concurrent projects effectively.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, both in a broad and detailed scope.
  • Assist in the development of contract specifications and research the application of new procedures and/or products.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
  • Act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 10 or more years' experience in design, layout, and analysis for HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Strong Revit and AutoCAD skills required
  • Knowledge of Indianapolis Mechanical and Plumbing Codes
  • Experience with neighboring states' codes is a plus
  • Experience working on publicly funded and municipal projects is a plus
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
