About the position

The Mechanical Engineer I position at Scientific Research Corporation involves supporting the design, development, and documentation of mechanical systems for U.S. Navy airborne SIGINT, ELINT, and COMINT systems. The role requires collaboration with program management and customers to ensure technical drawings and installation procedures meet the necessary standards. The engineer will also be responsible for conducting research and analysis to enhance product development and manage technical data related to P-8A aircraft modifications.

Responsibilities

• Researches and prepares drafts and/or finished technical drawings for program management and customers.
• Supports P-8A structural modifications including internal racks, sensors/antennas, and radomes, ensuring Flight Clearance Technical Data Packages (TDPs) are complete and accurate.
• Performs research and analysis on projects to enhance the technical development of products and services.
• Assists in establishing supportability and maintainability concepts based on logistics elements.
• Generates engineering change proposal and technical directive documents.
• Designs and maintains mechanical supporting systems for P-8 aircraft, determining the level and location of repair activities.
• Manages technical data, reviews and manages technical publications, and generates and manages required databases.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering or related field and/or appropriate work experience with U.S. Navy airborne SIGINT, ELINT, and COMINT Systems.
• Proficiency in Auto-CAD and 3-D mechanical modeling software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite for day-to-day tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.
• Familiarity with drafting, compiling, and reviewing mechanical installation design packages.
