About the position

The Mechanical Engineer I position at IGT in Reno, NV, is designed for individuals looking to develop their skills in mechanical engineering within the gaming industry. This role involves supporting the design and development of electromechanical products and systems, engaging directly with manufacturing processes, and collaborating with various teams to ensure product functionality and compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in or support product development, including overall product functionality and documentation.
  • Conduct research and analyze data from design proposals, project requests, and product specifications to determine feasibility and project direction.
  • Design parts and assemblies and document the process.
  • Manage the creation and revisions of bill of materials and engineering change orders.
  • Test and analyze data to ensure product specifications, process requirements, and material standards are met.
  • Engage in mechanical engineering design projects, including sustaining engineering of existing designs, product enhancements, and development of new products.
  • Resolve semi-routine design and redesign challenges.
  • Assist in developing and refining designs for modified product enhancements and routine fixes.
  • Prepare specifications for the selection and procurement of electromechanical devices designed by third parties.
  • Develop product cost models and produce designs for manufacturability and serviceability.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align product design with manufacturing and operational constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in the design and packaging of electromechanical and peripheral devices.
  • Foundational knowledge of electro-mechanical components and their applications.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation for device and component designs.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and their challenges related to mechanical devices.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools and CAD modeling.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is desirable.
  • Awareness of manufacturing limitations and ESD/radiated emissions considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to successfully pass a security background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks is desirable.
