About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer II at Amazon Robotics, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing innovative system architectures and module designs for robotic drive solutions. This role emphasizes collaboration across various disciplines to bring product designs from concept to production, ensuring high performance and reliability in robotic systems. You will engage in analytical problem-solving and apply your mechanical engineering expertise to real-world challenges, contributing to the transformation of customer experiences through advanced robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
  • Working with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launch and sustain a high performing robotic fleet worldwide
  • Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Exhibiting role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership

Requirements

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
  • Hands-on experience crafting simple proof-of-concept models
  • Thorough understanding and use of principles, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (cast, injection mold, forge, stamp, etc) components
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and processing engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering
