About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer II at Amazon Robotics, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing innovative system architectures and module designs for robotic drive solutions. This role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and the application of advanced engineering principles to create impactful robotic systems that enhance customer experiences. You will engage in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
  • Collaborating with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launch and sustain a high performing robotic fleet worldwide
  • Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Exhibiting role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership

Requirements

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
  • Hands-on experience crafting simple proof-of-concept models
  • Thorough understanding and use of principles, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment through the full product development cycle from inception through maturity including creating associated documentation (specs, test plans, drawings, etc.)
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (cast, injection mold, forge, stamp, etc) components
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and processing engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering
