About the position

The Mechanical Engineer II will play a crucial role in the development and execution of the Innovation process for strength and cardio fitness products. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Mechanical Engineering and Innovation, this position focuses on ensuring a seamless transition from the R&D phase to final prototyping, collaborating closely with the Innovation team and Product Manager to optimize product design for quality and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures reliability, manufacturability and the smooth product transition from the R&D phase to full prototype including understanding of quality and Asia manufacturing.
  • Drives technical designs that may improve ergonomics or customer needs.
  • Understands and works with Sr. Engineers in all activities towards prototype readiness ensuring product reliability and manufacturability.
  • Ensures creation of prototype, through R&D and consumer insights.
  • Attends project reviews and design reviews.
  • Generates project requirements and initiates technical investigations of new potential products.
  • Presents updates at project reviews on prototype readiness and issues.
  • Able to analyze engineering CAD models for prototyping and testability.
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout the Innovation lifecycle.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Science area of study or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years in a Mechanical Design Engineering/Manufacturing Environment.
  • Consumer products design experience.
  • Previous exposure to NPD (New Product Development).
  • Experience with 3D CAD and FEA (SolidWorks).
  • Experience with a variety of materials and processes is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, Risk Analysis and tolerance stack ups.
  • Experience with Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing techniques.
