About the position

The Mechanical Engineer II position at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics involves contributing to a global engineering team focused on enhancing the quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness of medical diagnostic instruments. This role is integral to the Value Engineering team, emphasizing design standardization and cost-saving initiatives within an FDA-regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design components and subsystems for medical diagnostic instruments.
  • Utilize cutting-edge manufacturing methods to improve product quality and efficiency.
  • Optimize engineering processes to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Apply design change principles in compliance with FDA regulations.
  • Conduct failure analysis on reliability test subassemblies and components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Creo software.
  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical designs using metals and plastics.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and metal casting.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, including tolerancing with GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
  • Understanding of product change control, new product development (NPD), and root cause analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with Should Cost Analysis.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
