About the position

The Mechanical Engineer II position at RTM Engineering Consultants involves applying mechanical systems design knowledge to create construction drawings and provide ongoing support throughout the construction process. The role emphasizes collaboration with clients and the design team, ensuring effective communication and project management oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Provides complete management of project timelines and related design activity communication between the design team and the client/customer, accurately & timely.
  • In accordance with company standards, provides assistance in the preparation of accurate and complete proposals and engineering agreements.
  • Accurately and timely produces mechanical systems design elements consistent with project specifications.
  • Accurately and timely produces design elements in accordance with the project hours, scope & parameters.
  • Provides research design options consistent with project requirements.
  • Selects appropriate equipment for project type.
  • Creates construction HVAC documents for permitting that are accurate and complete.
  • Produces accurate and complete load calculations and engineering project specifications within project parameters.
  • Accurately and consistently execute QA/QC process.
  • Provide project coordination with in house and outside sources.
  • Provides timely consultation on projects to manage schedules, deadlines, site surveys, punch lists, building codes and standards consistent with company quality standards.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Proficient in mechanical systems design and construction drawing creation.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage timelines and communication effectively.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and load calculations.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
