The position involves identifying and troubleshooting a variety of difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, coordinating, performing, and documenting engineering test reports, also with limited supervision. This role requires the development, design, or modification of mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings or specifications of difficult scope. Additionally, the candidate will perform engineering analysis of difficult scope and may technically lead or execute engineering projects, including the development of key suppliers. The role also includes generating mechanical product specifications and may involve the design, development, and implementation of custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. Establishing standards across all operational processes is a key responsibility, as well as specifying and reviewing engineering documentation. The candidate will implement concepts for a variety of complex product issues and mechanical solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of functional knowledge, demonstrating conceptual and practical expertise in mechanical engineering, along with basic knowledge of related disciplines. The candidate should possess business expertise, being aware of best practices and how their area integrates with others, as well as understanding the competition and differentiating factors in the market. Leadership skills are essential, as the candidate will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Problem-solving skills are crucial, as the candidate will need to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions, exercising judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
