As a Mechanical Engineer III at CannonDesign, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, working under the guidance of a licensed engineer. Your role will encompass a variety of projects, including new construction and renovations across sectors such as education, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills, as you will be responsible for the design and implementation of HVAC systems, as well as assisting with plumbing and fire protection designs when necessary. In this role, you will independently perform and direct the design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for HVAC systems on assigned projects. For more complex projects, you may work under the supervision of a professional engineer. You will also be expected to calculate heating and cooling loads, layout designs, and utilize energy modeling software to ensure efficiency and compliance with project specifications. Your responsibilities will include preparing Revit/BIM models of construction drawings, editing specifications, and conducting thorough research to address emergent issues as they arise. Additionally, you will interface effectively with clients and project team members, attending meetings to discuss project budgets and progress. Your role will involve reviewing shop drawings for compliance, responding to RFIs, and preparing construction documents. You will conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and monitor construction progress, which may require physical walkthroughs of the site. As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will also coordinate work activities among team members and participate in business development and marketing initiatives.
