About the position

The Mechanical Engineer III position at Nabors involves designing and developing new products for the energy industry, particularly focusing on oil field equipment. The role requires applying sound engineering principles to propose modifications and solutions for existing products, performing engineering calculations, and acting as a focal point for equipment-related engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve oil field equipment within the Engineering department.
• Model mechanical design concepts using 3D Parametric software.
• Perform engineering calculations as required.
• Conduct Finite Element Analysis as needed.
• Perform Failure Analysis and participate in Root Cause Analysis.
• Check drawings produced by designers and drafters.
• Perform tolerance stack-up verification.
• Prepare assembly instructions and bills of material.
• Interface with vendors for parts and material selection.
• Develop plans for prototyping, controlled testing, field trials, and rollout of new or improved equipment.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance and Field Operations Teams.
• Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of directly relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with Oilfield Equipment Design (Mud Pumps, Top Drives, Travelling Blocks, etc.).
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English.
• Ability to effectively present technical information to colleagues, customers, and vendors.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Math Cad, Solid Edge, Solid Works, Inventor, Solid Works Simulation, ANSYS, and manufacturing/inventory software.
• Valid Driver License and valid passport.

Nice-to-haves

• Engineering expertise in machine design, strength of materials, metallurgy, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid power.
• Knowledge of drilling engineering principles, practices, and rigs.
• Design creativity and knowledge of manufacturing software.
• Knowledge of oilfield regulatory requirements.
