About the position

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Cleveland, Ohio headquarters. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a part of the Commercial Power Sources Team to develop or improve new and existing products. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a global leader in its industry. The role involves working in Research and Development (R&D) on the design, specification, and documentation of mechanical components, assemblies, and complete arc welding/plasma cutting systems. The activities include the design and testing of sheet metal components, mechanical systems, packaging, and manufacturing assembly. The engineer will develop test specifications for production use and analyze product field failure specimens and/or production test failure specimens for root cause identification and corrective action. In this position, the Mechanical Design Engineer will perform and supervise the testing of new designs, processes, warranty improvements, and cost reductions. They will coordinate the activities of technical support personnel and engineer safe, high-quality, cost-effective, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible parts, subsystems, and complete machines. Engaging in Voice of Customer actions and evaluating market needs will be essential. The engineer will also support sales, marketing, service, and customer issues as required, revitalizing and rationalizing legacy products to improve their quality. The role requires collaboration with team colleagues, R&D, manufacturing, production, supply, quality, and service departments to establish and achieve objectives. Interaction with suppliers, customers, distributors, and sales engineers will occur on an occasional basis, and the engineer will engage with global teams and suppliers to reduce overall costs. Additionally, the Mechanical Design Engineer will establish and support corporate strategic related projects and contribute to strategic planning, assuming additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Four-year Engineering degree is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years Engineering experience for Level II.
  • Minimum of five (5) years Engineering experience for Level III.
  • Minimum of nine (9) years Engineering experience for Level IV.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities.
  • Initiative to take ownership of product designs.
