About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will specialize in plant and process engineering, providing investigation, analysis, reports, and testimony to assist in resolving civil and criminal litigation and insurance claims. This role involves addressing issues related to industrial equipment, safety, material handling, and plant layouts, focusing on incidents such as inadequate machine guarding and improper safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide investigation and analysis for civil and criminal litigation and insurance claims.
• Prepare detailed reports and provide expert testimony as needed.
• Investigate workplace incidents related to industrial equipment and safety procedures.
• Analyze and assess material handling systems and plant layouts.
• Evaluate the design and specification of industrial equipment and utility systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited school.
• PE license or EIT/FE with the ability to become a PE within 4 years.
• 15+ years of manufacturing and production experience, including design, installation, start-up, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance process.
• Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
• Experience in root cause failure analysis and hazard analysis/risk assessments.
