About the position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will join the Industrial Market team, serving as the primary technical representative for the firm in securing consulting services for manufacturing clients. This role involves preparing professional proposals, conveying technical issues to clients, and guiding projects from feasibility through final engineering design.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Development Principals in pursuing and proposing consulting services.
  • Prepare professional proposals for mechanical consulting services.
  • Serve as the technical expert in mechanical engineering for the firm.
  • Conceptualize mechanical design approaches for large industrial projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for industrial projects.
  • Design and produce engineering drawings and instructions based on calculations.
  • Conduct research in complex problem areas and resolve design conflicts.
  • Prepare plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Select and size equipment for mechanical systems.
  • Supervise installation, repair, and replacement of systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Participate in contract bidding and administration.
  • Lead project coordination with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Check and approve shop drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering systems design experience with a consulting firm for Industrial/Manufacturing/Process projects.
  • Professional Engineer license (P.E.) required.
  • Outstanding knowledge of ASHRAE, IBC code set, and NFPA codes standards.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Digitally curious and comfortable with coding and automation.
  • Design automation skills, including the application of parametric design tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper.
  • Software coding skills, especially with Python and/or C#.
  • Experience working with Revit's API.
  • Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization.
