About the position

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the design and commissioning of mechanical equipment for industrial facilities. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experts in mechanical and process engineering, enhancing skills in mechanical design and process engineering. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical or process engineering, particularly with piping, pumps, valves, and compressors used in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Design various mechanical systems typical for water, wastewater treatment, biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Prepare design calculations and equipment specifications for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Generate and check design deliverables such as PFD's, P&ID's, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Support the construction team by representing the design team on-site, answering RFI's, and providing creative design solutions.
  • Coordinate with other design partners including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project or task.
  • Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of industry related mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proficient in basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent).
