About the position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-op for Spring 2025. This position offers a unique opportunity for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering to gain hands-on experience in the consulting engineering field. The intern will work full-time (40 hours per week) in Arlington, VA, starting in January 2025 and continuing through Spring 2025, with flexible dates to accommodate the school calendar. The co-op program is designed to immerse students in the engineering design process for the built environment, allowing them to build industry-competitive skills while working on real projects under the guidance of Professional Engineers. The ideal candidate will engage in mechanical/HVAC/Energy design, producing detailed layouts and equipment details of HVAC systems, creating one-line diagrams and schematics, and assisting the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings. The intern may also participate in data collection and field verification, collaborating with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project. This role is perfect for students who are eager to learn and contribute to challenging and complex MEP projects, becoming an integral part of the design team. Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of HVAC systems.
  • Produce one-line diagrams/schematics.
  • Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • May assist in the data collection and/or field verification.
  • Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year).
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to work full time in Framingham MA office throughout the co-op term.
  • Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.
