About the position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-op for the Summer 2025 semester, starting in May 2025. This position is designed for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably those in their sophomore or junior years. The internship will provide an immersive experience in the field of Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPCs), which is a core business of CMTA's Energy Solutions division. The ESPCs allow for the upgrading and renovation of facilities in a budget-neutral or even budget-positive manner by redirecting funds already spent on utilities into facility upgrades. This includes a comprehensive process that covers scope development, design, bidding, construction management, commissioning, measurement and verification, and ongoing energy management services. The co-op program at CMTA is robust and aims to develop students into full-time caliber employees who can contribute to the company's growth. Interns will work closely with full-time engineers under the direct supervision of Professional Engineers, gaining hands-on experience with various systems such as photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems, and building automation systems. The program is structured to ensure that each co-op stands out by taking on challenging projects and being involved in multiple stages of Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts, from initial development through implementation. This unique approach allows co-ops to build industry-competitive skills in a collaborative environment, preparing them for a successful career in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry.
