About the position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-op for the Summer 2025 semester. This position is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), preferably those in their sophomore or junior years. The internship will commence in May 2025 and is expected to last through the Summer 2025 semester, with the potential for multiple co-op rotations. CMTA is recognized as one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S., specializing in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. The Energy Solutions division focuses on Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs), which allow for facility upgrades in a budget-neutral or even budget-positive manner. Interns will gain hands-on experience with various energy-efficient technologies, including photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems such as geothermal, and building automation systems. The co-op program is structured to provide students with industry-competitive skills through collaborative project tasks alongside full-time engineers, all under the supervision of Professional Engineers. Interns will be involved in all stages of project development, from initial site visits and building audits to energy calculations and the production of detailed construction documents using CAD. This unique program is designed to help students stand out by taking on challenging projects and developing a comprehensive skill set that prepares them for a career in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry.
