About the position

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to support the design and improvement of mechanical systems in various industrial facilities. The intern will assist in establishing and maintaining company standards while contributing to project success through technical documentation and design calculations. This role offers an opportunity for growth and development in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of various mechanical systems typical for food and beverage, bulk solids material handling, and other industrial facilities.
• Prepare design calculations and equipment specifications for typical food and beverage, material handling, and other industrial facilities.
• Develop and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
• Coordinate with other design partners including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred.
• Proficient in basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent).
• Regular, reliable attendance and ability to work productively to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with design documentation creation and layouts.
• Familiarity with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
