About the position

TTM Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the Summer of 2025, located in Syracuse, NY. This internship offers a unique opportunity for students currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program to gain hands-on experience in a leading global manufacturer of technology solutions. The intern will work closely with experienced Mechanical Engineers to utilize and enhance analysis tools, conduct testing, and assist in various laboratory duties. The role is designed to provide practical exposure to the engineering field, allowing interns to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. The intern will be responsible for using LabVIEW and Matlab to control test systems, collect and analyze data, and enhance testing methodologies through programming and design implementation. Additionally, the intern will create software routines for quality control and improve image analysis techniques. The position also involves performing thermal finite element analyses (FEA), which is crucial for understanding the thermal performance of engineering designs. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their technical skills and gain valuable experience in a collaborative environment. Candidates must have completed all core Mechanical Engineering courses and specific classes such as Experimental Analysis, LabVIEW programming, and Matlab programming. It is preferred that candidates have also completed courses in Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design, Numerical Analysis/Finite Element Analysis, and Statics. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in various computer skills, including LabVIEW, Matlab, and 3D CAD software, are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and enhance analysis tools as defined by Mechanical Engineers.
  • Conduct testing and data collection using LabVIEW and Matlab.
  • Enhance testing methodologies through programming and design implementation.
  • Create software routines for quality control processes.
  • Improve image analysis techniques in laboratory settings.
  • Perform thermal finite element analyses (FEA).
  • Assist with other laboratory duties as required.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Completion of all core Mechanical Engineering courses.
  • Completed courses in Experimental Analysis, LabVIEW programming, and Matlab programming.
  • Good interpersonal and cooperation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including LabVIEW, Matlab, programming (C#, Java, SQL, C++, or other), MS Office, and 3D CAD (Solidworks or Inventor).
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves
