About the position

Parsons is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to support HVAC, plumbing, industrial piping, and industrial ventilation for federal projects in our Pasadena, CA, Kentucky, and Tennessee offices. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the engineering design process and the critical role that Mechanical Engineers play in the industry. Interns will engage in various tasks, including Revit design for mechanical systems, performing engineering calculations and analyses related to thermal and fluid mechanics, and conducting research to create engineering reports. Each intern will be paired one-on-one with a mentor from the same discipline to facilitate their education and enhance the quality of their experience. Additionally, interns will participate in the 4D Internship Program, which allows them to interact with peers from different disciplines and senior management within the organization. This collaborative environment fosters personal and professional growth, encouraging interns to articulate their perspectives while respecting those of others. Responsibilities

  • Support HVAC, plumbing, industrial piping, and industrial ventilation for federal projects.
  • Engage in Revit design for mechanical systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to thermal and fluid mechanics.
  • Conduct research and create engineering reports.
  • Participate in the 4D Internship Program and interact with interns of varying disciplines and senior management.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's (3rd year or above) or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Major GPA greater than 3.25/4.00.
  • Good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) experience (i.e. SolidWorks) or Revit experience.
  • Deep knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling, technician/assistant roles, or extensive lab coursework.
