About the position

Nabors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer intern for our Energy Transition Solutions Team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for candidates to engage in hands-on design and development of components and systems under the guidance of the engineering manager. Interns will assist the Research and Development (R&D) team on various projects, which may involve creating electrical and mechanical schematics. The areas of investigation for this role may include cutting-edge topics such as carbon capture, nanomaterials, hydrogen production, catalysis, and energy storage systems. Interns will be part of an interdisciplinary team but are expected to work independently on assigned tasks. The role requires modeling mechanical design concepts using 3D parametric software and performing necessary engineering calculations. Interns will also conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as needed, check and release drawings produced by designers and drafters, and prepare assembly instructions and bills of material. Providing technical support to Quality, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams is also a key responsibility, along with interfacing with vendors and customers to offer technical assistance. Participation in company safety meetings and awareness initiatives is expected, as well as performing tolerance stack-up verification and assisting with prototype assembly in the shop and yard. Interns will also be tasked with diagnosing problems with mechanical designs and generating effective solutions, as well as manufacturing components using available machines. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
