About the position

The Summer 2025 Mechanical Engineer Intern position at Schneider Electric in Franklin, TN, is designed for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering. The intern will engage in entry-level mechanical engineering tasks related to the design of Medium Voltage Equipment, contributing to both new product development and the evolution of existing products. This role offers hands-on experience within the medium-voltage model control center and switch gear design engineering team, providing opportunities to assist experienced engineers and designers in various engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist other experienced engineers and designers with CAD design activities.
• Support prototyping building activities at the model assembly shop.
• Help organize design engineering documentation.
• Help create engineering documentation in the engineering repository system for projects in progress.
• Shadow experienced engineers & designers in day-to-day work activities.

Requirements

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior level status in a related Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering degree program, graduating August 2025 or later.
• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening and soliciting input from others.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Basic organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage resource procurement and utilization.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with CAD 2D/3D & CAD management systems.
