The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities
- Review and ensure compliance with welding specifications.
- Develop procedures for qualification and certification of welding personnel.
- Materials selection and problem resolution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in metallurgy, welding engineering, materials science & engineering, or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant experience or an advanced degree.
- Experience in welding engineering, including implementing and evaluating welding techniques and procedures for design and operations.
- Strong communication skills to interface with various organizational levels, multiple disciplines, and technical authorities.
- Experience with welding code, ASME, and AWS.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
Nice-to-haves
- Certified Welding Certification (CWI) is highly desirable.
