About the position

The Mechanical Engineer at Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) will be responsible for designing and managing technical systems for large, complex projects, particularly in the Mission Critical Sector. This role involves leading less experienced engineers, engaging with various markets, and ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables from concept through construction administration. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with teams across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage technical systems for large, complex projects.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers and engineering designers.
  • Engage with governmental agencies and ensure compliance with relevant codes.
  • Direct and oversee project team members within the discipline.
  • Create building system concepts and drive documentation processes from schematics through construction administration phases.
  • Prepare and document required code research for projects.
  • Develop and maintain Mechanical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project life.
  • Attend project meetings and represent HED as necessary.
  • Monitor project status reports and respond to client inquiries promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or sufficient experience in lieu thereof.
  • Professional Engineering License or ability to become licensed within one year.
  • Minimum seven years' experience in the A/E industry, preferably with Mission Critical/Data Center experience.
  • Revit BIM design experience required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to motivate and mentor staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • LEED Accredited preferred.
  • IES-VE Modeling experience preferred.
