The role requires approximately 10% travel outside the Houston area, emphasizing the need for flexibility and adaptability in various work environments. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for preparing technical proposals, which include developing project specifications and preliminary system configurations. The role also involves selecting components such as structures, enclosures, pumps, and valves, as well as developing and reviewing system designs and drawings for mechanical configurations. The engineer will monitor unit fabrication, coordinate with engineering resources, and provide technical support during commissioning and field delivery. Additionally, the engineer will conduct equipment performance assessments, support on-site maintenance, and facilitate off-site inspections and servicing. The position requires strong communication skills to interface with clients and technical resources, as well as the ability to develop Operations & Maintenance manuals and spare parts lists. The engineer will also be involved in miscellaneous site support and client training, ensuring that all technical and operational needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical proposals including developing / compiling project specifications and preliminary system configurations as well as final factory acceptance and commissioning outline, technical proposal negotiation and other technical services
  • Select components such as structures, enclosures, pumps, fans, coolers/heat exchangers, valves, piping/hoses, mechanisms, couplings, fasteners, covers, coatings, acoustic and thermal insulation, etc.
  • Develop / review system designs, drawings / drawing and other documents for packages for mechanical (structural, hydraulic, thermal, etc.) configurations utilizing gas turbine driven electrical generators (predominantly 2 pole Brush Electrical Machines) and pumps (piston and centrifugal), fire protection (FP) sub systems, trailer based components (truck/trailer frames and wheel assemblies, 5thwheel / king pin connection, enclosing, pneumatic braking, hydraulic leveling/support) and supporting components
  • Monitor unit fabrication and coordinate/facilitate with company engineering/technical resources
  • Commissioning and field delivery
  • Equipment performance and condition assessments
  • Support on-site periodic maintenance and mechanical operations support including lubrication, gas and air filter systems, corrosion mitigation, coating servicing, etc.
  • Technical support / facilitation of off-site equipment unit shop inspections/servicing/upgrades and equipment reconditioning such as prime driver (turbine, reciprocating engine, electric motor) and driven (generator, pump, gearbox), support equipment (fans/blowers, pumps, piping, structural, etc.), etc.
