About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager at Cosentini Associates, you will lead the design and management of mechanical systems for a variety of projects, particularly in the healthcare sector. This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, collaborate with top professionals, and contribute to innovative mechanical designs on significant building projects both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical building design on various projects including hospitals, laboratories, and high-rise buildings.
  • Manage the design of projects involving studies, reports, design development, project management, and field implementation.
  • Incorporate design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
  • Assist teams in performing design load calculations, equipment selections, and mechanical system design.
  • Provide credit documentation for LEED and other building rating system design and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions and responses to client comments.
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers.
  • Review submittals and provide responses to Requests for Information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC design systems for healthcare and commercial facilities.
  • Proficient with Trace 700, AutoCAD, and Revit software.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent technical, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of code and healthcare compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Project and client relationship management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • PE registration in New York is highly preferred, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in 1-2 years.

  • Experience with sustainable design and energy conservation practices.
  • Familiarity with building rating systems beyond LEED.
