About the position

The Mechanical Engineer for Quality Assurance at Legrand will play a crucial role in ensuring product quality and compliance within the Electrical Wiring Systems team. This position involves continuous improvement activities, supporting various internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining quality metrics and tools. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing quality data, performing root cause analysis, and implementing process improvements to meet quality objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze quality data, identify problem areas, recommend solutions, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide solutions to immediate quality concerns while overseeing long-term implementations.
  • Monitor and coordinate quality engineering functions including inspection, testing, repair, and auditing.
  • Maintain required quality records and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Design and implement process improvements, including testing and inspection.
  • Analyze engineering changes to determine their impact on processes and tooling.
  • Develop capability studies, advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode effect analysis (PFMEA), and statistical process controls (SPC).
  • Provide answers to technical questions from suppliers and determine appropriate actions.
  • Host and support internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits as required.
  • Analyze, audit, and report quality performance and trends for products and processes.
  • Provide input for quality requirements to Design and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Evaluate and disposition First Articles/PPAP.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in decision-making and include appropriate stakeholders in the process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study.
  • 2-5 years of related manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in the quality function.
  • Experience in problem solving, corrective action, and preventive action.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, quality manufacturing engineering, or electro-mechanical engineering.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
  • Experience with product risk management - DFMEA/PFMEA.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining a quality management system.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in creating trend charts, pareto charts, and graphs.
