About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Black & Veatch involves designing mechanical systems for water and wastewater projects. The role focuses on engineering calculations, equipment selection, and developing engineering work products such as Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs). The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure designs meet company and industry standards, contributing to the company's mission of providing innovative solutions in sustainable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Mechanical System design of air systems for water/wastewater projects.
  • Conduct engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for sizing equipment and piping in air systems.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select technically acceptable air system design solutions.
  • Follow company and industry design practices in the development of designs.
  • Develop engineering work products for air systems including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Mechanical arrangement drawings, and equipment, piping and valve specifications.
  • Review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with BV criteria.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or in active pursuit of such registration.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
