About the position

The Engineer provides engineering support in all phases of maintenance, operations, design, and modifications for Ameren Energy Centers as needed. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of energy production and distribution, contributing to the overall mission of Ameren to power the quality of life for its customers. The Engineer will be involved in various engineering studies aimed at improving the reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety of the Energy Centers. This includes performing field inspections, monitoring operations, and providing preventive maintenance recommendations to optimize maintenance activities on assigned equipment. In addition to fieldwork, the Engineer will implement various codes and standards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations. Utilizing both internal and external resources, the Engineer will act as the System Owner for assigned equipment, focusing on continuous improvement and optimizing reliability and cost through predictive technologies and data systems. The role also involves active participation in programs such as Plant Reliability Optimization (PRO) and the Corrective Action Program (CAP), adhering to Design Control and Quality Management System policies and procedures. The Engineer will be responsible for developing engineering solutions, estimating costs and schedules, and creating maintenance and repair specifications in collaboration with operating and maintenance groups at the Energy Centers. This includes preparing required reports, job requisitions, work orders, and maintaining records and drawings. The position may require the implementation of computer technologies to utilize Energy Center facilities effectively and will involve interaction with system-related vendors and other groups within Ameren Company. The Engineer should be prepared for call-outs, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support power plants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering studies to improve Energy Center reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Perform field inspections, monitor operation, provide preventive maintenance recommendations, and provide information to optimize maintenance activities on assigned equipment.
  • Implement various codes and standards to assure Energy Center compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilize Energy Center and outside resources as the System Owner for assigned equipment to implement continuous improvement.
  • Optimize reliability and cost through the use of predictive technologies, PI system, industry associations, and Energy Center personnel resources.
  • Actively support various programs such as Plant Reliability Optimization (PRO) and the Corrective Action Program (CAP).
  • Follow and support Design Control and other Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Develop engineering solutions, estimates of cost and schedule, maintenance and repair specifications in coordination with operating and maintenance groups.
  • Prepare required reports, job requisitions, work orders, and maintain records and drawings.
  • Implement computer technologies to use Energy Center facilities in a cost-effective manner.
  • Interact with assigned system-related vendors and other groups within Ameren Company.
  • Be subject to call-outs, nights, weekends, and/or holiday work to support power plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required.
  • Energy Center experience preferred; Boiler experience will be considered a plus.
  • Good analytical, human relations, written and oral communication skills, and computer experience required.
  • Ability to work overtime and take off-hour call-outs as necessary to support Energy Center operations is required.
  • Travel between energy centers across Missouri and the Power Operations Services office in the St. Louis area required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with boiler systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with predictive technologies and data systems.
