About the position

AtkinsR--alis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their San Francisco office. The role involves assessing the feasibility of new projects, developing detailed scopes, and managing the performance of design and engineering consultants. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for delivering construction projects globally, ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications, and leading interdisciplinary coordination efforts. The ideal candidate will implement innovative engineering methodologies to meet aggressive program schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Assess feasibility of new projects early in the project lifecycle.
  • Develop detailed scope through field walks and collaboration with facilities operations partners.
  • Manage performance of the Design Builder's Architectural and Engineering/Owners Design Consultant vendor.
  • Develop effective Mechanical and Process Mechanical design deliverables for construction projects.
  • Interface and coordinate with contract design, construction, and internal client organizations.
  • Provide technical guidance and issue resolution during detailed design and construction phases.
  • Ensure work is performed code compliant and meets Client's Policies and Expectations.
  • Lead inter-discipline coordination efforts to ensure delivery of a complete and approved project scope.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource conflicts.
  • Engage in contract and legal negotiations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in design and construction of Mechanical systems.
  • Completed Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam or aspiration to achieve Professional Engineer (PE) status.
  • Experience with Mechanical systems such as HVAC, Cleanroom, Heating and Chilled water systems, Fire Systems, and Process Exhausts.
  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting construction contract documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical writing experience (e.g. specifications).
  • Proficiency with P&ID's, Pipeflo, and BIM.
  • Experience with construction, startup, and turnover of facilities process systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, SMACNA & IBC standards.
  • Basic knowledge of control methods for process systems.
  • Proficiency in managing project change control.
