About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will serve in the Public Works Officer, Facilities ENG & ACQ division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. This role involves conducting engineering studies, developing designs for mechanical and utility systems, and managing large-scale construction projects to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering studies of mechanical equipment and services to determine capabilities and operational improvements.
  • Develop engineering designs and plans for mechanical and utility systems as part of complex construction projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and mechanical engineering design/analysis software to produce designs and study results.
  • Prepare outlines of services, scopes of work, construction estimates, calculations, and engineering fee estimates for in-house and A&E contracts.
  • Plan, budget, and monitor large-scale utility construction projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have a professional engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in conducting engineering studies and developing designs for mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of construction project management.
