About the position

As a member of Cushing Terrell, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to designing innovative built environments that enhance communities. This role focuses on consulting HVAC engineering, requiring a blend of technical expertise and collaborative skills to deliver high-quality construction documents and maintain strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex HVAC systems with a high standard of quality.
  • Collaborate with peers and lead a team of engineers and drafters to produce high-quality construction documents.
  • Drive the development of HVAC design from initial concept through construction drawings.
  • Perform and/or review load calculations, equipment selections, duct and pipe routing.
  • Prepare project proposals and engineering fee estimates.
  • Conduct construction administration duties including submittal review, field inspections, RFIs, and change requests.
  • Maintain and develop strong client relationships, including design-build contractor relationships.
  • Coordinate projects with other trades including architectural, electrical, and structural.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Consulting HVAC Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficient in design of various HVAC systems such as VAV, DOAS, VRF, and Data Room Cooling systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Heating/Cooling load and Ventilation calculations.
  • Proficient in application of Mechanical Building Codes.
  • Ability to provide a high level of client service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with plumbing systems, such as domestic hot & cold-water systems and waste and vent systems.
  • Knowledge of temperature control systems and experience writing sequences of operations.
