About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Actalent involves defining and developing new mobile and transportable shelter system designs. The role requires the identification of relevant subsystems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, HVAC, power generation, and other mechanical subsystems as necessary. The engineer will assess requirements and system architecture to create mechanical design solutions that support existing hardware limitations. This includes creating system specifications and ensuring mechanical interface compatibility, as well as analyzing and resolving design compatibility issues. In this role, the engineer will coordinate the design of mechanical systems and subsystems for integration into a system of systems platform. This involves consolidating design efforts, defining requirements, and overseeing testing verification. The position also requires experience in transitioning completed designs into fabrication activities. The engineer will conduct independent technical investigations, including failure analysis and root cause determination, and must be experienced in Finite Element Analysis. Technical writing is a crucial aspect of this position, as the engineer will be responsible for producing engineering analyses, trade studies, feasibility assessments, and analyses of alternatives. The role requires interfacing with customers to clarify requirements, provide technical status updates, and deliver design presentations. Additionally, the engineer will be involved in developmental and qualification testing, contributing to test plans and procedures, conducting testing evolutions, and correcting deficiencies. Site surveys and engineering assessments will also be part of the responsibilities. The position is fully on-site in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and requires a Secret security clearance to start, with the ability to maintain a Top Secret security clearance and obtain SCI.
