About the position
The Mechanical Engineer position at Actalent involves leading HVAC design efforts and overseeing designers to ensure high-quality output and adherence to project timelines. The role is crucial for the successful execution of HVAC systems in various facilities, including commercial offices and educational institutions.
Responsibilities
- Perform calculations for HVAC systems.
- Develop layouts for HVAC designs.
- Select appropriate equipment for HVAC systems.
- Assist with bidding and estimation processes (training available).
- Solve problems proactively and communicate effectively with team members.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in HVAC Design.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, and HVAC design.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and load calculation.
- Experience with ductwork design/sizing for single zone and VAV systems.
- Familiarity with packaged rooftop units, split systems, and VRF systems.
- Proficiency with Trane Trace 700 and/or Carrier HAP load calculation software.
- Experience in commercial office, warehouse, multi-family residential, and educational facilities.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with hydronic (chilled water/hot water) systems is a plus.
- Plumbing design experience is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required.
- Engineering degree not required; candidates with an associate degree in design are welcome.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
