This position at Action Target is designed for a Mechanical Engineer who will provide engineering expertise to support the sustainment of current products and the development of new range products and equipment. The role involves a variety of engineering activities, including research into new technologies and alternative methods, conceptual design, detailed design drafting, product development, project management, and conducting fatigue and stress analysis. The engineer will also be responsible for creating test plans, performing on-site testing, commissioning product installations, and providing general technical support for products. In this role, you will be expected to develop new products and enhancements based on market needs and best practices, utilizing the New Product Development (NPD) milestone process for effective management and tracking of project status. You will provide supporting calculations and specifications necessary for the development of designs, complete detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling and drawing creation, and develop DFMEA documentation. Collaboration is key, as you will work effectively in a team environment, interacting with customers, suppliers, product line managers, sales teams, and peer engineers. Your day-to-day tasks will also include developing and executing new product test plans in various settings, calculating and analyzing test results, preparing detailed reports, and making recommendations based on your findings. You will assist in preparing technical details for sales inquiries and technical literature, conduct risk assessments of product and equipment designs, and participate in the continuous improvement and upgrades of current products. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing detailed evaluation reports, cost estimates, and recommendations on the specification and design of new or improved products, equipment, or processes as required. Managing and completing projects against fixed timelines and budgets, as well as participating in the implementation and maintenance of organizational engineering processes, will also be part of your responsibilities.
