About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will focus on Static Transfer Switch (STS) and Power Distribution Unit (PDU) products. This role involves reviewing requirements and specifications, providing feedback, and utilizing 3D CAD software to develop product designs. The designs created will be documented in PLM software to facilitate the release of drawings and bills of material. The Mechanical Engineer will serve as the lead for concept and detailed design of power systems, which includes working with materials such as sheet metal, busbar, power cable, and wire harnesses. In this position, the engineer will develop complex drawings and bills of material for designs, including 2D drawings and/or Model Based Design (MBD) for mechanical design. Collaboration with other Mechanical Engineers is essential to efficiently break down tasks, discuss design ideas, and work towards optimal solutions. The role also requires writing, submitting, and releasing change orders for both new and existing products into the PLM system, utilizing a revision control system. The engineer will request and review analyses for Seismic, CFD, and Thermal designs while working closely with the internal simulation team. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will work with manufacturing engineers and production associates to build prototypes and provide necessary direction. Familiarity with industry design standards such as UL, NEC, and IEC is crucial for applying these standards to product designs. The engineer will also be responsible for ordering parts/components and supporting prototype builds and production. Customer-facing product submittal drawings for finished designs will be created, and support for prototype/product testing will be provided as needed, particularly in areas such as thermal, mechanical layout, and mechanical strength issues. The role may involve occasional contact with outside vendors and suppliers, and the engineer will be expected to identify areas requiring process improvement or documentation, collaborating with management to execute these improvements.
