About the position

Drive DeVilbiss is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Clinical Care Engineering group. This role is pivotal in providing technical support for the development of new medical devices and the enhancement of existing products. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with a team of engineers and cross-functional departments to drive projects from conception through to completion, ensuring that all design history documentation is maintained in accordance with established new product development procedures. In this position, you will construct functional mechanical and electrical prototype systems throughout the design process, assisting with qualification test activities to ensure that products comply with technical specifications and requirements. You will generate test protocols and document test results, coordinating with external resources and suppliers for component and subsystem sourcing. Your role will also involve participating in project and technical design reviews, ensuring that all activities align with quality control policies and applicable regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, capable of setting and achieving goals with minimal supervision, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain design history documentation in accordance with established new product development procedures.
  • Construct functional mechanical/electrical prototype systems throughout the design process.
  • Assist with qualification test activities to ensure that products comply with technical specifications and requirements.
  • Generate test protocols and document test results.
  • Coordinate with external resources and suppliers for component and subsystem sourcing.
  • Interact with internal cross-functional departments to complete project related activities.
  • Participate in project and technical design reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control policies and applicable regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 0 - 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Ability to read, understand and produce engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Familiar with basic machining and fabrication principles.
  • Familiar with injection molding and plastic part assembly process and methods.
  • Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experience.
  • Experience with all levels of procedures and activities associated with new medical product development.
  • Experience with development of medical devices in accordance with applicable ISO or FDA regulatory requirements.
