About the position

Advanced Energy is seeking a creative, high-performing, and intrapreneurial Mechanical Engineer to join our team in developing next-generation products for the Semiconductor and Industrial temperature measurement and control industries. This role encompasses applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of products and systems. The successful candidate will engage with customers to understand their requirements, analyze and validate design concepts, and provide guidance to engineers and technicians. This position is ideal for an engineer eager to learn new measurement techniques, tackle complex problems, and take on diverse tasks within a nimble and efficient team. Responsibilities

  • Develop designs, prototypes, and experiments from concept to commercialization
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on PCB assemblies
  • Improve production processes for cost, yield, and cycle time
  • Produce detailed models, drawings, and bills of materials
  • Support existing product lines through sustaining engineering
  • Communicate with vendors and contractors
  • Participate in design reviews and FMEA analysis
  • Update and design new systems for the product portfolio
  • Assist in product installation and commissioning
  • Validate thermal and mechanical aspects through simulation and modeling
  • Prototype using in-house tools and materials
  • Ensure compliance with EMC, environmental testing, and hazardous location ratings

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in mechanical design and product development
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, ePDM, and simulation tools (FEA, CFD, Thermal)
  • Knowledge in material selection for high-temperature environments and semiconductor processing chemicals
  • Experience with semiconductor process equipment design preferred
  • Familiarity with optomechanical design, DFM, DFA, and creating system designs
  • Capable of assembling and repairing delicate assemblies
  • Familiar with Gauge R&R, ECO process, and transfer-to-manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, ATEX, NEMA, ANSI, and IPC specifications
  • Familiar with machine shop practices, sheet metal fabrication, and designing/testing for outdoor and hazardous areas
  • Familiarity with vacuum equipment and related design constraints
