About the position

CACI is seeking an intermediate level Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to the U.S. Navy at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. This role involves supporting the Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation Division, focusing on the design and development of mechanical devices that enhance the capabilities of Navy weapon systems. The engineer will work on various projects that improve the reliability, supportability, and safety of existing equipment, while also developing new concepts and designs for Ordnance Handling Equipment and related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intermediate level mechanical engineering support to the Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation Division.
  • Develop new concepts and designs for Ordnance Handling Equipment, Reusable Ordnance Containers, and other support equipment.
  • Support an engineering team in concept development, technical analysis, design, and integration of mechanical mechanisms.
  • Work on engineering projects that enhance the capabilities of the nation's warfighters.
  • Support development of modifications and upgrades to improve existing devices' capabilities and safety.
  • Review, develop, and update engineering design documentation, including drawings and models.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in design and development of mechanical devices
  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD or CREO for engineering models and drawings
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Expertise in material selection, shop procedures, and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting finite element analysis
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience in CREO Parametric 3D modeling and engineering drawing development software
  • Engineering experience related to U.S. Navy or DOD handling equipment
  • Knowledge of DOD requirements, standards, and processes.
