About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at CACI, Azure Summit Technology, LLC involves mechanical design and support for production and R&D operations. The role requires collaboration with various engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of hardware designs, documentation, and support for test fixtures and tooling. The engineer will be responsible for mechanical design aspects, including heat transfer analysis and tolerance analysis, while working closely with machine shops and electronics engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for mechanical design and support to production and R&D operations.
  • Collaborate with program managers, systems engineers, electrical engineers, and test engineers in planning and executing hardware designs.
  • Document mechanical interfaces in support of applicable programs, including test procedures and assembly documentation.
  • Assist in supporting all programs related to test fixtures and tooling.
  • Conduct heat transfer analysis, shock and vibration mitigation, and tolerance analysis in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work with machine shops in the fabrication of mechanical hardware through all phases of the manufacturing process.
  • Establish baselines for mechanical interfaces in proposed designs with electronics/RF engineers.
  • Support existing mechanical designs and hardware currently in use in production and R&D.

Requirements

  • US citizenship due to the nature of the work and contract requirement.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance due to contract requirement.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience with mechanical design using CAD software.
  • Minimum 1 year experience performing mechanical engineering in a defense contracting environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Mechanical design experience related to RFI/EMI enclosures, boxes, shielding.
  • Mechanical design experience of structures, fixtures, enclosures, frames for electrical circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Experience using Catia, ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCad.
  • Experience with heat transfer analysis tools (AnSys).
  • Hands-on experience using milling machine, lathe, drill press.
  • Experience writing inspection and assembly documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with machine shops in the fabrication of mechanical hardware.
