About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer at HDR Architecture Inc, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of mechanical systems for commercial and institutional buildings. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the work of the mechanical design team throughout the schematic design development and contract document phases of various projects. This involves establishing meetings and participating in reviews with governing agencies to ensure code compliance, as well as coordinating the workload to ensure that all documentation is completed on schedule. You will also conduct work sessions at project sites in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines, reviewing mechanical documents for conflicts and ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be tasked with writing and editing mechanical specifications, selecting appropriate equipment, systems, and devices, and coordinating with other disciplines to manage addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders. You will take responsibility for incorporating agreed-upon changes into project documents and providing construction contract administration as needed. Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) will also be part of your duties, as you will review the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators, or Mechanical CAD Technicians. This position may also require you to perform other duties as needed, contributing to the overall success of the projects you are involved in.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
  • Experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
  • Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software
