About the position

The Mechanical Engineer at dormakaba is responsible for the design and development of mechanical and electromechanical products. This role involves new product development, product improvement, and customization based on customer requests. The engineer will also build and test engineering models and prototypes, ensuring that products meet specified requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop design concepts from product requirements and design specifications
• Customize existing products, sustain existing products and fixture designs
• Coordinate and perform validations
• Perform failure analysis and testing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
• Expertise in SolidWorks
• Excellent understanding of technical drawing conventions and GD&T ANSI/ASME- Y14.5
• Flexibility to work in an agile development environment with electrical and software engineers

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Windchill PLM software or equivalent
• Experience with designing injection molded parts
• Ability to conduct failure analysis and use of SolidWorks Simulation FEA
• A strong mechanical background with working knowledge of one or more of the following: electronics, firmware, or control engineering
• Significant experience in the areas of motor drive systems and motion control (brushless DC motors, gears, shafts, belts, etc.)
