About the position

At Alcoa, the Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the aluminum industry. This position involves providing day-to-day technical advice and collaborating with designers, technicians, and other specialists to achieve program goals. The engineer will initiate and implement improvement projects that focus on enhancing designs, operability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of components. Additionally, the role requires managing capital and expense project requests, including schedules and costs, while ensuring compliance with engineering and industry standards. The Mechanical Engineer will also interact with fabricators and suppliers to ensure that the products delivered meet the required specifications for their applications. This position demands the ability to identify and implement new insights while gaining team consensus, as well as the capability to shift focus and problem-solve under pressure. Proficiency in crafting, maintaining, and updating drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD is essential for this role. Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical advice and support to team members.
  • Develop designs in collaboration with designers and technicians.

  • Manage capital and expense project requests, including schedules and costs.
  • Interact with fabricators and suppliers to ensure product specifications are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in an industrial environment preferred.
  • On track to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or already a PE.
  • Excellent digital literacy with the ability to learn new software and programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Results-oriented approach to tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and resourcefulness in the face of challenges.
