About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at J.F. Taylor, Inc. involves hands-on engineering opportunities in a collaborative environment, focusing on innovative solutions for aircraft modification and training system development. Engineers will engage in all phases of the design cycle, from requirements generation to production and testing, while working closely with project managers and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical engineering design, integration, and testing of mechanical systems for aircraft modification and training system development.
  • Design and develop prototype and production mechanical piece parts and assemblies.
  • Generate detailed 3-D solid models for aircraft and training system assemblies.
  • Conduct system level design, architectural and requirement development.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as Creo, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and Polyworks in conjunction with PLM WindChill.
  • Perform site surveys and data collection events.
  • Support requirements and documentation development, and assist with test planning and execution.
  • Work with production teams to support fabrication of final products.
  • Adhere to military/DoD aircraft systems requirements and industrial standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-5 years of experience preferred, but all candidates will be considered.
  • Ability to generate, read, and comprehend 3-D solid models and 2D production drawings.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience with engineering tools, primarily 3-D solid modeling (Creo, Solid Works) and Windchill.
  • Familiarity with military/DoD aircraft or shipboard systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.100M drawing standards and ISO 9000/AS9100 standards is desired.
