About the position

At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical advice, develop designs in collaboration with designers and technicians, and interact with other specialists and scientists to achieve program goals. Your role will involve initiating and implementing improvement projects that include engineering solutions aimed at enhancing designs, improving operability and safety, and reducing costs and complexity of components. You will manage capital and expense project requests, schedules, and costs, ensuring that all project work complies with appropriate engineering and industry standards. In this position, you will interact with fabricators and suppliers to ensure that the products delivered meet the application requirements. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing new insights while gaining team consensus, and you must be able to shift focus and problem-solve under pressure. Additionally, you will craft, maintain, and update drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, contributing to the overall success of the engineering team and the projects at hand.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical advice and support to the engineering team.

  • Ensure compliance of project work with engineering and industry standards.
  • Interact with fabricators and suppliers to ensure product quality.
  • Identify and implement new insights while gaining team consensus.
  • Shift focus and problem-solve under pressure as needed.
  • Craft, maintain, and update drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in an industrial environment preferred.
  • On track to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or already a PE.
  • Excellent digital literacy with the ability to learn new software and programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Results-oriented with a strong focus on task completion.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and resourcefulness in the face of challenges.
