We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our talented team at our office located in Somerset, New Jersey. In this role, you will assist in planning, designing, and directing engineering projects within the business unit. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will perform the design of mechanical (HVAC) systems, including but not limited to air distribution ductwork systems, hot water, chilled water and condenser water pumping and piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, central plants, air handling systems, dehumidification systems, automatic control systems and ancillary heat transfer systems for pharmaceutical, biotech and life science facilities. You will use computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering and energy savings calculations including IESVE, Carrier HAP and eQUEST. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in engineering studies and schematic design for new mechanical systems and analyzing the operation of existing systems. You will analyze existing HVAC and utility generation systems and equipment and determine applicability for use in renovation projects. Additionally, you will create specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details and diagrams, and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects. You will make calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design such as heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and equipment sizing. Selecting equipment based on recommendations of the Project Designer/Engineer and filling out equipment schedules will also be part of your role. You will provide drawings for your own designs and produce sketches, research design options and document findings for the Project Designer/Engineer, and keep the Lead Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. Furthermore, you will research code issues and ask general questions of code officials, organize and maintain project files, and assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • General knowledge of system design and applicable codes in specific discipline-related areas.
