About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Glacier Support Services, LLC (GSS) focuses on supporting medical research related to the development and testing of Exoskeleton Devices designed to assist wounded service members in maintaining mobility on the battlefield. The role involves the entire mechanical product design and development process, including design specifications, simulation, prototyping, and testing of exoskeleton devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop Exoskeleton Devices including lower leg and thigh frames.
• Assist in material selection and design feasibility for various components of the exoskeleton device.
• Identify or design a locking knee joint mechanism.
• Collect, record, maintain, and analyze data for the development of exoskeleton devices.
• Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations for publication based on test results.
• Collaborate with research team members to optimize development plans for exoskeleton devices.
• Conduct mechanical testing of exoskeleton devices on surrogate leg models.
• Assist with human cadaver and human subjects testing of exoskeleton devices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Ten years of direct experience, including experience in Medical Research.
• Experience in the entire mechanical product design and development process.
• Proficient with CAD software.
• Proficient in MatLab.
• Experience in design, fabrication, installation, and integration of instrumentation devices.
• Strong data collection and analysis skills.
